Bel Royal Primary School

Headteachers Welcome

Claire Hammond - Headteacher

My name is Claire Hammond, and I am honoured to serve as the Headteacher of Bel Royal School. Choosing the right school for your child is one of the most important decisions you will make as parents, and we are thrilled that you have chosen to engage with our Bel Royal School website.

Our Core Values – Include, Believe, Achieve underpin everything we do. They represent our school aims, ethos, and principles. It is these qualities that make our school not just a place of learning, but a vibrant community where every child is encouraged to reach their full potential. This is underpinned by our mission statement of 'Each Unique, Together We Thrive.'

At Bel Royal Primary School, we aim to offer all pupils an education that nurtures and develops the values, knowledge, and skills needed to flourish and make positive differences to our community and the wider world. Our school is a place of learning where everyone’s UNCRC rights are positively supported. Together, we aim to empower our pupils to grow into respectful, responsible global citizens who understand and value one another.

We are a one-form entry primary school, with approximately 230 pupils from Nursery to Year 6. We also have an Additional Resource Provision that supports children with significant or complex needs. Working with specialists and various services, we are continually developing our provision and practice to ensure that we provide the best resources and experiences for all children to flourish.

We aim to ensure that Bel Royal School is a safe, secure and stimulating setting in order to promote learning, with a strong focus on real -life, authentic learning experiences and resources. The school is set in beautiful surroundings, with plenty of space for the pupils to play and many opportunities for learning outdoors, including a Forest School area. We believe learning in the outdoors offers many fantastic opportunities and try to make the best use of our entire grounds, local area and Jersey as a whole. Pupils are also able to participate in a wide range of educational visits, including residential trips both in Jersey and to the UK for our Key Stage 2 children.

We aim to prepare pupils for the next stage of their education and their lives. In a digital world, this requires the teaching of digital learning skills, which are taught to all pupils. ICT is well resourced and used regularly to support learning through the use of laptops, iPads and other devices.

Central to our values is the belief that strong relationships and collaboration are key to a thriving school community. We encourage open communication and active participation from all our stakeholders. By working together, we can create a supportive network that enhances the educational experience for our children. Your involvement and collaboration with us are vital, and we look forward to partnering with you to ensure the best outcomes for your child.

Bel Royal School is determined to be the best it can be, and we work hard to reflect on and improve our practice to ensure we do our best for every pupil. If there is anything you need to know or if you have any questions, queries, or concerns, please do not hesitate to reach out to us. Our doors are always open, and we are here to support you and your child in any way we can. Open communication is crucial to a successful school experience, and we value your feedback and input.

Whether you are a prospective parent, a current family, or a member of our wider community, we hope our website provides you with valuable insights into the vibrant life of our school. Please feel free to explore our pages, learn more about our programs, and discover the wonderful things that make Bel Royal School a truly special place to learn.

Thank you for visiting, and we look forward to welcoming you to our school community.
