The children learn through a balance of discrete, adult led interactions and child-led play in our continuous provision. Children learn through high quality stories and texts, which promotes a love of books and developing children’s communication and language skills. 

We passionately believe that children learn through play. Our indoor and outdoor provision provides opportunities for children to learn in a practical way, focussing on the importance of natural materials, often found in our local environment.

Our Learning Environment 

At Bel Royal School our aim is to provide an enabling environment which promotes the learning and development of every child. We provide a wealth of experiences which enables children to develop their curious, enquiring minds and to become active, independent learners.  

Our learning spaces are calm, neutral, and natural to support all children to feel relaxed, focussed and ready to learn. Our environments are carefully planned out to allow children to become independent learners, as all resources are easily accessible and are clearly labelled.

Outdoor Learning

At Bel Royal School, outdoor learning is a regular part of our Early Years practice. Our outdoor environment provides a range of experiences that help the children to access different parts of the curriculum.

Our outdoor area includes opportunities for large scale construction and big blocks, a digging area, large scale sandpit, mud kitchen, den making, small world and fairy garden, outdoor musical instruments and stage, outdoor writing and maths resources, gardening, and bicycles and lots of opportunities for climbing, jumping, swinging and strengthening the children’s gross motor skills.

The outdoor area provides ample opportunities for scientific enquiry and opportunities to explore the world around them.  It develops the children’s emotional and social development whilst building the foundations for a lifelong connection with nature and our planet.
